Tips For Hosting A Student
- Feel free to show your hostee around. The more the hostee sees, the more comfortable she will be with the school.
- Show her places outside the college. It’s good to know the common places at school such as the library, bookstore, various offices (financial aid office, Business office), but it is good to know what is outside of the school such as where the malls are, libraries, closest starbucks, latest place to get food, etc.)
- Make sure your Hostee is comfortable. You want to make your hostee feels as comfortable as possible. Give her information that would make her want to come to your school. Help her be in the best position so that if she chooses your school she’ll know the ins and outs. Most importantly, be honest!
- Feed your hostee. No one likes to go unfed! Make sure you have food at your dorm or apartment so that your hostee stays fed.
- Arrange for your Hostee to come visit when events are happening on campus. This will help the hostee get a feel of what the life is like on campus. Examples of events might include: Poetry night, movie night, ball, a meeting for one of your involvements, etc.
- Clean up before your Hostee comes! Please ensure the place the hostee is staying is clean and livable
- Remember you are representing PEARLS. As an Alumnae you are representing PEARLS. Make sure you are positive around your hostee. You don’t want to do anything that that may put a bad representation of pearls on the hostee.
- Have fun!!!
